Philosophy & Mission
PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
The philosophy of Hillside Christian Academy is based on a God-centered view that all truth is God’s truth, and that the Bible is the inspired and the only infallible, authoritative Word of God that contains this truth. God created all things and sustains all things. Therefore, the universe and humanity are dynamically related to God and have the purpose of glorifying Him. A person can know God and glorify Him only by accepting God’s free gift of salvation through His Son, thereby committing his or her life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Our purpose is to offer a Christian perspective on life and the world from which will come a spiritually healthy personality and a proper understanding and acceptance of one’s role in life at home, at school, at play and at worship. This purpose has its foundation based in the Christian concept of love.
This philosophy and purpose directs us to promote high academic standards while helping students to achieve skills in creative and critical thinking. The objective of our instructional program is to enable students to excel at the next level of education in both academics and citizenship.
Our responsibility for the student encompasses the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional areas. Although they are distinct in their needs, they are inseparable, and through them all runs the thread of the spiritual. This spiritual thread is woven throughout the total curriculum, and all activities in the school program will facilitate our basic philosophy.
This philosophy dictates that we cooperate closely with parents in every phase of the student’s development, always offering assistance in understanding the purposes of the Christian school.
